We all experience pain for a reason but on many occasions it is a warning for us to discontinue something we are doing. The pain can be the result of accident, sickness or disease but the point is if you know where the sensation is coming from then it is usually much easier to diagnose and then treat. Normally once the cause of the pain is treated, the pain will gradually disappear but not always.
People in this situation are said to be suffering with ‘chronic pain’ which is a persistent feeling, the type that exists with back pain for example and unlike those of ‘acute pain’ which is intense but can be treated. Around the world, many people live with chronic pain throughout their lives and it can happen at anytime for almost any reason. Chronic pain often long outlives its original cause, worsening over time and taking on a life of its own and the longer chronic pain goes untreated, the worse it becomes.
Unfortunately, prescription medication, which is the normal way to deal with the pain, can become ineffective over prolonged periods requiring higher doses and the chance of dangerous side effects increase; now people are turning to wards more natural pain relief methods. One such natural pain relief method is the use of acupuncture, a treatment that has origins many thousands of years old. The Chinese use acupuncture to treat and cure many ailments by inserting long very thin needles into the skin.
Patients with conditions like severe back pain, migraines and arthritis claim it makes their condition much more bearable and relieves pain more than any conventional treatment they have used. Herbal remedies are another time-tested alternative to conventional therapies, providing natural pain relief to sufferers without many of the unwanted side effects of conventional medicines. Herbal remedies can supply a number of natural pain relief treatments like the use of Emu oil for someone suffering with arthritis.
Some people do not like using these herbal remedies, not because they do not provide enough relief but because they take longer to work; the plus side is that nothing synthetic is entering the system that can harm it. However, one of the best ways to avoid even the need for natural pain relief is to adapt your lifestyle by adopting a healthy diet with plenty of fruit, whole grains and vegetables, with a reduction in the consumption of processed foods. Many people cut back on the amount of sleep they have which is a mistake as sleep in the correct amounts is a time when the body repairs itself but exercise should not be forgotten either as even walking is a very healthy physical activity.
